In operation
Hong Kong's Immigration Department announced contactless e-Channel clearance for residents, with an initial launch scheduled for 1 December 2021 at the airport, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Shenzhen Bay. Enrolment enabled QR-code entry and facial verification, conventional counters and fingerprint-based clearance remained available. 1 In July 2023, the department announced eligibility expansion to foreign domestic helpers, non-local students and imported workers from 21 July. 2 These government releases establish a programme and subsequent extension, not a supplier award. Neither identifies the vendor, contract price, procurement route or data-retention schedule.
