Norway selected Gemalto Oy in 2016 for passport and identity-document supply. The justice minister told Parliament in June 2022 that the resulting Thales contract ran to 2026 1. In March, her ministry had summoned Thales after the company reported production errors and shortages of materials 2. An August parliamentary exchange records a further production error and contractual follow-up. The minister argued that a short-term supplier replacement was not possible and that one supplier was needed for identical documents 3. These records document problems and official responses, not a final audit or adjudicated damages award.
